Post #7: Putting it all together

Image
Throughout this course, I have learned many new study habits, and things about myself. I have set some personal goals and plan to continue moving forward. I have come to know Christ, and because of that I have come to know myself better too. This Optimist Creed is a motto that I have come to live by. In my opinion, it helps me apply the teachings of Christ. I hope to continue with this blog! (Another goal) :)

Post #6: The Parable of the Ten Virgins

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwCavwlkp0A The link above goes to a video about the Parable of the 10 Virgins. This parable has taught me two important things: 1. The words I want to hear from the Savior aren't that He doesn't know me. I want to hear the words: Well done, good and faithful servant. 2. In order to hear those words... I have to work at it. I have to strive to always keep the oil in my lamp.

Image
https://www.lds.org/bible-videos/videos/jesus-teaches-about-the-widows-mites?lang=eng I served my mission in Ecuador. My heart would cry sometimes as I watched the poor people there pay their tithing. Much of this money goes towards Education, church funding, etc. that the people down there don't necessarily get to benefit from. Luckily, that is slowly changing-- however it is true. I am so thankful for those people. I do my best to take advantage, to follow their example, pay my tithing, etc.

Post #4: Living the Higher Law

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ik0aS368Kv0 The video above is a link to a mormon message about living the higher law. Living a Christ centered life can be hard in a world that is always changing-- when Christ and his gospel does not. Blessings I have seen in my life from living the higher life: -Peace of mind -Happiness in family -Closeness with the Spirit -Motivation to continue in the path of Christ -Better understanding of the Atonement. What will you do this week to live the higher law of Christ? No one is perfect, but set a little goal here and there. Make note of the blessings!

Matt. 17: 20 20  And Jesus said unto them, Because of your  unbelief : for verily I say unto you, If ye have  faith  as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this  mountain , Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be  impossible  unto you. A video that helps us to strengthen our faith in Christ: Finding Faith in Christ   President Utchdorf taught in the General Women's Conference Oct. 2016: The Power and Limits of Faith Sometimes it’s not easy to develop faith in spiritual things while living in a physical world. But it is worth the effort because the power of faith in our lives can be profound. The scriptures teach us that through faith the worlds were framed, waters were parted, dead were raised, and rivers and mountains were moved from their course. 5 Yet some might ask, “If faith is so powerful, why can’t I receive an answer to a heartfelt prayer? I don’t need a sea to part or a mountain to mo...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p98KAEif3bI The above link is a short film called, "The Butterfly Circus." This story motivates me to believe in myself, my potential, and to believe Christ. Many times we sing, or say, "I believe in Christ."....but do I believe Christ? Do I believe in the promises that He has given me? Become: BELIEVING I’m learning that in order to believe in the promises and blessings Christ offers, I need to (1) believe in Christ, (2) Believe Christ and (3) Believe in myself. Because I have decided to focus on this attribute, I have seen it more in my studying the scriptures. I have also started praying differently. I’m learning that in order to receive the blessings we seek, we have to know how to ask. GOALS: 1.        Pray with faith, not fearing to bluntly ask God for what I am needing, and then be willing to work for it—or put forth action. 2.        Study my Patriarchal Blessing every da...

Post #1: What does the Life of Christ mean to me?

What does the life of Christ mean to me? Matt. 4:19, " And he saith unto them,  Follow me , and I will make you  fishers of men ."  This was an invitation given throughout Christ's life here on the Earth. But what does it mean to me?  " And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his  name   JESUS : for he shall  save  his people from their sins." (Matt. 1: 21) I learn many things from the birth and life of Christ. First of all, Jesus Christ-- though born in a stable, amidst very humble circumstances, had a purpose, and lived to fulfill that purpose. In today's society, the natural man looks to blame others for the failures and trials that one experiences in life. We tell ourselves that because our mother, father, grandpa, etc. was an addict, abuser, poor, etc. we are bound to the same actions. Christ came from what we would call in today's society a "broken family." He was born in a stable. He had every reason to complain an...
